new-beginnings 1

14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.” 18 So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.

I see God giving Abram all this but why?  Why is he special?  Why did God make him so great? Two things I see: 1. Abram was humble and 2. Abram had faith. How many of us would offer another everything we have and be content with whatever is left? That would take a lot of faith! The truth is treasure here on earth means nothing. Jesus said: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21). We were all born with nothing and we will take nothing with us when we die.  However, we want to be comfortable while we are here. Where’s the balance?  I believe it comes with putting Jesus first.  If you’re not putting Him first you are putting something else there and that just doesn’t work out.  So what’s the best way for this to happen? The word is “surrender”.  Most of us hate this word.  It makes us feel powerless.  The truth is, we are, and don’t realize it.  When we give it to Jesus ( like Carrie Underwood sais: Jesus take the wheel) , let Him drive, life gets better.  Not perfect but the best it can be.  Our life here on earth is but a journey to our final home.  That can be with or without Jesus.  It’s up to you!  But if you’re still confused and don’t know what to say….just say Jesus!
